In class on Wednesday, we had the opportunity to watch a clip about 4 different ways to answer a concern by an employee. The first manager was extremely rude, didn't act like he was in the least bit concerned about the problem, and didn't even know the employee's name. The second manager was extremely laid back and didn't seem worried about anything. He just acted like the problem would dissappear and he wouldn't need to do anything. The third manager was really rude to the employee and tried to tell her that she was wrong and should stop worrying about it. The fourth manager was really concerned about the problem and was interested in hearing what he could do to help the employees. The clip was shown so that we could see how our response to people can effect the situation. It also showed us how we should be treated and what we should expect from our employers. I thought the clip was effective in showing us the different ways in which people communicate and listen to concerns of others.
The other clip that we watched was about De-Mar plumbing. The company strives to keep the customer happy, by keeping the employees happy. When the employee knows what they are doing and do it with a smile, the customer will be happy and want to go back to the company for future problems. The employees are rewarded for their sales and comments from the customers they service. I would love to work for a company that wants to keep their employees happy by offering reward and incentives for a job well done. It was interesting to see how this company does everything, since most companies do not have such great reward and incentives.
