This past week was our last two two class periods. I have had an enjoyable semester with my professor. I have learned a lot about leadership and how to take a stand in life. I am usually one of those people who follow what others say, but after taking this class, I feel that I will take more of a stand and step-up to leadership positions. On Monday in class, we had a guest speaker on the phone, Kirk Weisler. He was an excellent motivational speaker. It was intersting to hear how he was so excited about his career and what moticates him to continue standing out in the industry. Everyone in the class recieved a book called "The Dog Poop Initiative." The book is a great example of what someone needs to do to stand out from the croud. One of the main questions that our professor pounded into our heads was "How are you going to make youself stand out from the rest of the people trying to get the same job?" You have to make yourself known and show how you are unique from all the other applicants. I feel that I need to do something to make myself stand out more. I can do this by taking the initiative in situations and standing up as a leader.
This past week I had an opportunity to stand up as a leader. I was extremely scared and nervous that I would not get the postition, but I tried anyway. I had to give a presentation about myself and why I wanted to be a leader. I was so nervous and I hate speaking in front of people, but my friend helped me along. In the end, I won the position and now I have the wonderful oppertunity to be a leader in the club I am in next year! It was a great experience for me, since I do not like speaking in front of people. I am glad that I stood out from the croud and took the initiative.
The last day of class, we had an ice cream social. It was a wonderful way to end the semester and to remember the class. I really enjoyed learning about how I can improve my leadership skills, and I plan on implementing them into my future.Thank you so much for teaching the way that you did! I really enjoyed it and learned a lot from you.
